2億9900万年前〜2億5000万年前 (299 million years〜250 million years ago)

The early Permian Laurasia in the north collided with Gondwana
in the south to form the Pangaea supercontinent in the late of this period.
The Pangaea climate was hot and became increasingly dry because
the interior was massive.
The climate was relatively cool in the south and tropical in the north.
Most major groups of vertebrate animals were Synapsid called mammal-like reptiles.
Permian–Triassic (P–Tr) extinction event
It was the Earth's most severe extinction event which died out 90-95% of all species.
Trilobita of the Paleozoic Era vanished completely, and marine
invertebrates such as corals and fusulina were devastated.
All major continents at that time were assembled into the Pangaea supercontinent,
and massive volcanic activity by superplume triggered mass extinctions.
This volcanic activity caused climate warming and increased sea water temperature.
The evaporation of ocean methane hydrate resulted in a vicious circle of climate warming.
Anoxic events (Superanoxia) occurred when the Earth's oceans
become decreased rapidly of oxygen in response to a vast quantities of methane.
It also coincided with a huge meteorite with a diameter of 50 kilometers at Antarctica.
